MORE THAN 270 RECORDING ARTISTS HAVE RECORDED THE SONGS FROM BEE GEES: THEIR GREATEST HITS: THE RECORD MAKING THE TRIO THE MOST COVERED GROUP IN HISTORY

The Bee Gees musical legacy has influenced pop culture for more than four decades. Over that time they have sold in excess of 110 million copies of their 25 albums, which include 19 #1 hits, and have been nominated for a Grammy Award 16 times. But perhaps one of their crowning achievements, and one of the clearest indications of their songwriting talents and credibility is the endorsement by the more than 270 artists who have recorded the songs which comprise Bee Gees: Their Greatest Hits: The Record.

The 40 song, two CD set, due out on November 20th on Universal Records, is the definitive collection of Bee Gees hits compiled from the past four decades. Artists who have recorded these Gibb Brothers compositions range from musical legends including Elvis Presley, Janis Joplin, Barbara Streisand and Diana Ross to some of todays hottest talents like Wyclef Jean, Celine Dion, NSYNC and Destinys Child.

Since their first Australian number one in 1966, the Bee Gees have written and performed a non-stop stream of hit singles for themselves as well as other pop music icons. Among those who have enjoyed huge successes with Bee Gees songs include: "Immortality" by Celine Dion; Pras Michel and ODB had one of the biggest hits of 1998 with "Ghetto Supastar;" Wyclef Jeans "Trying To Stay Alive;" and Pras Michel had an international hit with "Blue Angels" which featured parts of Grease. In the 90's the Bee Gees had six #1 cover records in the UK including "Tragedy" (Steps), "Words" (BoyZone), "How Deep is your Love" (Take That [Robbie Williams]), "You Should Be Dancing" (NTrance), "Trying to Stay Alive" (Wyclef), and "More than a Woman" (911). Earlier this year Steps released "Chain Reaction," which entered the UK charts at number two, while "Emotion" is Destinys Childs brand new single.

The list of artists who have covered Bee Gees is endless. Elton John, Al Green, Barry Manilow, Rod Stewart, Gloria Estefan, Gladys Knight, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Michael Bolton, Wayne Newton, Rufus and Chaka Khan, Tom Jones, Hank Williams, Jr., Luther Vandross, Johnny Mathis, Nina Simone, Roy Orbison, Barbara Mandrell,

Universal Records is set to roll-out a massive Bee Gees television campaign throughout the coming months to celebrate the November 20th release of Bee Gees: Their Greatest Hits: The Record, a comprehensive 2 CD, 40-track collection, which includes a 16-page booklet with 5 decades of photos and 4 newly recorded Bee Gees #1s originally written for other artists including Emotion (Samantha Sang), Heartbreaker (Dionne Warwick), Islands In The Stream (Kenny Rogers with Dolly Parton) and Immortality (Celine Dion). Fox Family will kick-off the television series on November 9th with "The Bee Gees: Live in Australia," a two-hour concert filmed in March of 99 at Sydney's brand new Stadium Australia. The Bee Gees concert was the first-ever event held at the Stadium Australia, which was built for the 2000 Olympics. On December 16, Trio Network will feature the Bee Gees on An Audience With, a live by request-style show with (UK) celebrity audience that was filmed by LWT/ITV in London in May 1998. It features performances by Boy Zone (Words) and Celine Dion (Immortality).

VH1 will coincide the release of the album on November 20 with a programming block that will include "Legends" (a biographical profile) and the airing of the Bee Gees 1996 concert special, "One Night Only," which was originally filmed as an HBO special at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas. On November 24, A&E will air "The Bee Gees Live By Request," filmed at the Hammersmith Ballroom in New York City on April 27, 2001. PBS, which aired "One Night Only" to huge success in 1999, has reacquired that program for their pledge drive campaign beginning December 1st and continuing through 2002.

The Bee Gees have had number one records in the UK in each of the last four decades and are the most successful trio in recording history. They are the only recording artists to write and produce six straight number one singles, and the first composers to have five songs in the top ten at the same time. Among a lifetime of honours, they have earned 16 Grammy nominations and won seven Grammy Awards. They are in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in both the US and Australia, Songwriters Hall of Fame, honoured by the Brit Awards for their Outstanding Contribution to Music, earned Lifetime Achievement honours from the World Music Awards, American Music Awards and the Australian Recording Industry.

They have sold more than 110 million records worldwide (Nights On Broadway, Stayin Alive and Night Fever) and rank on the all-time, top-sellers list (More Than A Woman, Emotion and Too Much Heaven). They have had 19 #1 singles over a career that has spanned 5 decades (Tragedy, Guilty and Heartbreaker). Their songs have been recorded by artists from Elvis Presley to Janis Joplin to Barbra Streisand and Diana Ross, as well as some of the music industrys latest luminaries like Wyclef Jean, Celine Dion, NSYNC and Destinys Child.

BEE GEES REINFORCE COMMITMENT TO UNICEF THROUGH FORTHCOMING "BEE GEES: THEIR GREATEST HITS: THE RECORD"

"TOO MUCH HEAVEN" ROYALTIES TO BENEFIT CHILDREN IN WARTORN AND DISADVANTAGED PARTS OF THE WORLD SUCH AS AFGHANISTAN

In November 1978, the Bee Gees released the single Too Much Heaven as a flagship for the UNICEF benefit concert, "A Gift of Song", which they instigated and organized with Robert Stigwood. Since that time, the royalties generated from this #1 smash have gone to UNICEF, along with donations from other "A Gift of Song" participants such as ABBA, Olivia Newton-John, Rod Stewart, Fleetwood Mac and other legendary artists. UNICEF is one of the worlds largest international charities, it benefits needy children around the globe. More than $15 million has been raised for UNICEF in this effort. Today the effort continues, thanks in part to the forthcoming November 20th release of Bee Gees: Their Greatest Hits: The Record, which includes Too Much Heaven as one of the 40-track, 2 CD collection. As a result, the song is expected to raise another huge sum for UNICEFs fight to support the children of Afghanistan and other disadvantaged areas.

"While there are many victims in the struggle that we find our world in today," said Robin Gibb, "my brothers and I have always had a soft-spot for the children. UNICEF has been a great friend and partner for us over the years and were confident that they can use whatever monies are raised to provide the children of Afghanistan with food, shelter and proper medical care."

UNICEF works for the survival of, protection and development of children worldwide through education, advocacy and fundraising. The organization provides Afghan children with vital goods and services such as therapeutic feeding; clothing, shoes and blankets; medicines; basic immunizations; educational materials; family survival kits (utensils, tenting, cooking materials); and water purification tablets.

Over the course of their 5-decade long career the Bee Gees have sold over 110 million records, had 19 #1 singles and have had a huge impact on popular culture. Considered by many as pop musics first family, their songs have provided the soundtrack for generations. They have withstood the test of time by blazing musical trails, creating a legacy of lush love songs to funky dance grooves, all with the unique Bee Gees vocal signature.
